Aurora events take place on the eastern side of the Denver Metro area. Major highways like I-70, I-76, I-225 and I-470 run through Aurora. Aurora is known as the third largest city in Colorado behind Denver and Colorado Springs.
Aurora is home to Stampede, a country western nightclub that also features hard rock bands like Quiet Riot, Stryper, Lita Ford and Insane Clown Posse. Country bands like Sam Riggs and Calibre also play at Stampede.
In the summer Aurora Rhythms holds free concerts on the lawn at the Aurora Municipal Center. In 2004, Aurora was honored as the Sports Illustrated magazine's 50th Anniversary "Sportstown" for Colorado because of its exemplary involvement in facilitating and enhancing sports. The city attracts more than 30 regional and national sports tournaments annually to Aurora's fields, which include the 220-acre (0.89 km2) Aurora Sports Park opened in 2003. (Wikipedia). The Aurora Sports park features 12 baseball/softball fields and 27 soccer/multi-use field.
The Arapahoe county fair is another Aurora Event that is a must see. The fair features concerts, a rodeo, dueling dogs, Tractor Pull and fantastic carnival rides. The Arapahoe County Fair usually takes place the last week of July.
