Grand Junction Events      Grand Junction events anchor the western slope’s concerts, rodeos and festivals. Signature Grand Junction events include The Country Jam and Mike the Headless Chicken Festival. Grand Junction is also home to the Junior College World Series several pro rodeos. Fruita, 12 miles north of Grand Junction, hosts the Fruita Fat Tire Festival, one of the nation’s most recognized mountain bike races/festival. Other Grand Junction events taking place right outside of town include the Palisade Peach Festival. There are also numerous wine festivals taking place at wineries around Grand Junction.

      The Mesa Theater is the most active music venue featuring Grand Junction events. It features national and Colorado bands and music of all genres. Other music venues include KAFN Radio Room, Avalon Theatre and Warehouse25sixty-five.

      Thanks to a $1.6 million grant from the state of Colorado, the City of Grand Junction was able to open Las Colonials Amphitheatre in 2017. Within walking distance of Downtown Grand Junction, the Las Colonias Park Amphitheatre has a capacity of 5000 people and a stage large enough for a symphony.

      Like most major cities in Colorado, Grand Junction is near a ski resort. Powderhorn is about 50 minutes west of Grand Junction right on the edge of the Grand Mesa Forest. It’s one of the smaller ski resorts in Colorado at 1600> In the summer, there a number of mountain bike events ad in the winter there are ski and snowboard events.
