Colorado Summer Mountain ResortsBy Jeff Shibley

The events at Colorado summer mountain resorts includes free concerts, festivals, rodeos, sports challenges, outdoor movies and outdoor markets. Better yet, events at Colorado summer mountain resorts take place at spectcular venues and downtowns with weather only found in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. The activities and attractions at Colorado mountain resorts have been available forever. Colorado's resorts can't rely on those activities alone to get you to visit their town. Chambers and resort towns are putting together more, bigger and better events to attract and entertain they're visitors.

Colorado mountain communities work hard to entertain their guests. Events at Colorado's top summer resorts offer diverse lineups to satisfy the pickiest in your family. Many resorts in Colorado are still vigorously adding events, so check out the full list of Colorado resorts here to see their unique event calendars, maps, lodging and ideas of things to so. https://eventsincolorado.com/basic-page/colorado-cities-and-resorts

Colorado Summer Mountain Resorts

Copper Mountain

Copper Mountain is in the top summer mountain resorts list because it's conveniently located about 90 minutes from Denver in Summit County. Visitors to Center Village can ride the Rocky Mountain Coaster, one of the longest in North America. Copper also offers affordable golf, boat rides on Copper’s West Lake, mini golf, scale the climbing wall and if none of those work, there’s go karts. The season kicks off June 9 with Colorado days. Center Village comes alive with vendors, food and live music. The summer really kicks in June 22 to 24 when the Attack of the Big beers takes place in Center Village and features brewers competing for the Brewzilla Cup. There’s also free music at this event. June free concerts feature Blood, Sweat and Tears, Magpie Salute (Members of Black Crowes) and Jefferson Starship. Other signature summer events at Copper Mountain include: The Colorado Cider and Beer Festival, The Copper Mountain Music Festival, The Mac and Cheese Fest, Guitar Town featuring the best guitarists in the world performing and hosting clinics, the Copper Crush Wine Fest, the Genuine Jazz and Wine Festival and Copper Country.  Summer sport events anyone can register to participate in include the Fjall Raven Classic Trek, the Under-Armor Trail Run and Triple by Pass, the Children’s Hospital Courage Classic bike race, the Copper Triangle bike ride, and the popular the Ragnar Relay. Colorado Summer Mountain ResortsWinter Park

Winter Park kicks the summer festival season off the weekend of June 16 with the inaugural Switchback Festival featuring SOJA on the 16th and Ziggy Marley on the 17th. The 16th Annual Blues from the Top Festival takes place the following weekend (June 23 and 24). This year’s Blues from the Top Festival features headliners the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band and North Mississippi Allstars at the new and improved Hideaway Park in Downtown Winter Park. The Hideaway Park stays busy the rest of the summer offering up free concerts every Thursday. In July, you can experience the Tequila & Taco Festival, The Winter Park Alpine Art Affair or the Winter Park Jazz Festival. The Winter Park Beer Festival takes place in August and that’s just at Hideaway Park. The Winter Park Ski Resort doesn’t sit idle during the summer either. The Trestle Bike Park has mountain bike exhibitions and competitions. The Winter Park Resort Village kicks of its summer events with the Chocolate Festival on June 16. That one’s followed by The Uncorked Wine, Art and Cheese Festival in July and the Whiskey and Wings festival in September. Two world class rodeos take place right outside of Winter Park. The Flying Heels Rodeo takes place in Granby on Saturdays in June and The High-Country Rodeo takes place in Fraser on Saturdays in July and August. https://eventsincolorado.com/area/winter-park

Colorado Summer Mountain Resorts

Snowmass

The Snowmass concert stage looks good no matter who’s performing on it. The Roaring Fork Valley provides a jaw dropping backdrop that pictures just can’t do justice. Imagine what it’s going to look like with talent like Lionel Richie, Jack Johnson, Zac Brown Band, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Fitz and the Tantrums, Gary Clark Jr, Bahamas and the Record Company when they play the Jazz Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience. The stage at Snowmass hosts free Thursday concerts. Every Wednesday there are rodeos at the Snowmass Rodeo Grounds. Other top summer events at Snowmass include The Tough Mudder Competition, the Snowmass Balloon Festival, The New Belgium Ranger Station 5K - Run for Beer and the Craft Beer Rendezvous. See the Snowmass calendar, maps and lodging here: https://eventsincolorado.com/area/aspen-snowmass

Colorado Summer Mountain ResortsSteamboat

Steamboat’s Keepin’ it Free Summer Concert Series at Howelsen Hill features a nice line up of headliners on selected weekend nights. This year, Keller Williams and the HillBender’s Pettygrass perform their tribute to Tom Petty. Other headliners playing for free at Howelsen Hill this summer include JJ Grey & Mofro, Stephen Marley and the Kyle Hollingsworth band. Steamboat signature summer events include: The Friday and Saturday Pro Rodeo that starts in June and goes into August, the Yampa River Festival, Cowboy Round up Days, the Hot Air Balloon Rodeo, the Wild West Air Fest and more. The Strings Music Festival’s intimate feeling venue is a great place to see a show and this summer, headliners include David Crosby and Friends, John Michael Montgomery, Melissa Etheridge, Amos Lee, The Dustbowl Revival, Andrew Bird, Indigo Girls, Martin Sexton, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Don McLean and more. And lastly, downtown Steamboat venues that feature live music pretty regularly include Schmiggity’s, the Chief Theatre and Old Town Pub. Colorado Summer Mountain ResortsAlamosa

There’s nowhere else in Colorado that offers a train ride to a pretty cool concert venue. Fir Amphitheatre, one of USA Today’s 10 Best Concert Venues you shouldn’t miss, is that venue. Mountain Rails Live is an adventure event set up to entertain the whole family with lunch included. Alamosa is close to the Great Sand Dunes National Park which holds events for the curious adventurer. Even if there aren’t any events this is an amazing natural monument where photos just don’t do it justice. Other signature summer events in Alamosa include Summer Fest on the Rio, the Hot Rod Dirt Drags, the Rollin Deep Car Show, the Alamosa Round-Up Rodeo and Beat the Heat BBQ, Brew and Chili Festival. There’s more and you can those here: https://eentsincolorado.com/area/alamosa-county

Colorado Summer Mountain ResortsTelluride

Telluride’s summer is most famous for the Telluride Bluegrass Festival which will celebrate its 45th festival this year. The success of that music festival has sprouted off several other summer festivals over the years including the Ride Festival featuring The String Cheese Incident performing both nights. Also on the bill: Sheryl Crow, Grace Potter, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, The Dirty Knobs w Mike Campbell, Chris Robinson Brotherhood, ZZ Ward, Dhani Harrison, Tyler Childers, Big Something, Larkin Poe and more.  After the festival at Town Park ends it keeps going with bands performing at selected venues into the night. Other festivals in Telluride this summer is The Telluride Jazz Festival, The Telluride Americana Music festival and the Telluride Blues and Brews Festival. All feature major headliners in the incredible setting of Telluride’s Town Park. Telluride’s not easy to get to, but worth the trip. Other signature summer events at Telluride this year: The Telluride Mushroom Festival, The Telluride 100 Bike Race, The Telluride Wine Festival and the Chamber Music Festival. See Telluride’s event calendar here: https://eventsincolorado.com/area/telluride

Colorado Summer Mountain ResortsEstes Park

It only makes sense that Colorado’s most popular summer destinations also a whole lot of summer events. Free concerts at the very scenic and comfortable Performance Park Amphitheatre in downtown happen on random dates throughout the summer. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. There’s also outdoor markets for arts and crafts, the Thursday Farmers Market, a jazz festival, the Rooftop Rodeo (complete with parade), The Estes Park Comic Con, The Friends of Folk Festival, a couple car shows and several forest service events at the nation’s most popular National Park, Rocky Mountain National Park. https://eventsincolorado.com/area/estes-park

Colorado Summer Mountain ResortsKeystone

Keystone Resort in Summit County earned a spot on this list thanks to the 8th annual Bacon and Bourbon festival, the Hike MS2018 and because I work the New Moon Café Booth at all these festivals. In the past years I’ve served grilled bruschetta with bacon and pesto, bacon chocolate chip cookies, brats and the award winning grilled peaches smothered in a bourbon, brown sugar and honey sauce. If you’re at one of these Keystone festivals stop by and say hi.

The Bacon Fest features booths serving up multiple ways to eat bacon and you can combine that tasty pork with a tasty bourbon then swish it all around as you rock out to Lez Zeppelin and Helles Belles. Other festivals taking place at Keystone Village over the summer include: The Keystone Wine and Jazz Festival, the Art Festival, the Bluegrass and Beer Festival, the Mountain Town Music Festival and Keystone’s Octoberfest. They’re free to get into and all kinds of food and beverages can be purchased. https://eventsincolorado.com/area/keystone
